A General Inspectorate the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security(IGMTSSS) is a service of the direct administration of the State, integrated in the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security (MTSSS).
Direction
IGMTSSS is headed by an Inspector-General, assisted by two Sub-Inspectors-General.

Intervention
The performance of the Inspectorate-General is subject to an annual activity plan approved by the Ministry, without prejudice to the possibility of carrying out extraordinary actions, determined by order of the Inspectorate or the Inspector-General (as provided for in the legal regime governing the inspection activity, Decree-Law No 276/2007 of 31 July 2007).
Timeline
1977 | Created, in the Organic Law of the then Ministry of Social Affairs, as General Inspectorate of Social Security.
1980 | The post of Inspector-General was created on 28 February 1980 (DL No 18/80 of 28 February 1980); First organic diploma (DL No 136/80 of 20 May 1980).
2012 | The current organic is established in Regulatory Decree No. 22/2012, of 08/02, defining the Ministerial Implementing Order No 185/2012, of 14/06, the organization in the matrix structure model.
